Xero Financial Consolidation
for US Groups

US-based groups managing subsidiaries on Xero — typically in the UK, Australia, or New Zealand — need ASC 810-compliant consolidated statements in USD. BrizoConsol consolidates Xero organisations alongside QuickBooks, MYOB, and other platforms into one US GAAP-ready group view.

The Gap Xero Leaves

Xero Doesn't Consolidate Across Organisations. That's by Design — Not a Bug.

Xero is one of the most widely used cloud accounting platforms in the world — with over 4.6 million subscribers. But each Xero organisation stands alone. Once you have two or more organisations in a group, consolidated financials need to be assembled somewhere else. Without a consolidation layer, that somewhere else is always a spreadsheet.

No Native Cross-Organisation Consolidation

Xero manages each organisation independently. There is no built-in way to produce a consolidated P&L, Balance Sheet, or Cash Flow across multiple Xero organisations — a feature request Xero itself has formally deferred to third-party apps.

Intercompany Transactions Are Not Eliminated

Intercompany revenue, loans, and transfers inflate your group numbers unless manually eliminated. Xero has no automation for this across organisations — it requires manual journal entries every period.

Mixed Systems Make It Worse

Groups that run some entities on MYOB, QuickBooks, or other platforms alongside Xero have no single system to consolidate across them — forcing exports and spreadsheet assembly.

What Is Xero Financial Consolidation?

Group Financials Pulled Directly from Your Xero Organisations

Xero financial consolidation is the process of combining the financial data from two or more Xero organisations — along with any entities on other platforms — into a single, accurate set of group financial statements. It requires eliminating intercompany transactions, translating foreign currencies, and handling non-controlling interests before producing a consolidated P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow.

BrizoConsol automates this entire process. (Note: Xero acquired Syft Analytics in 2024 for reporting. Syft handles dashboards and client reporting — BrizoConsol handles the consolidation close: eliminations, CTA, NCI, and audit-ready statements.) It connects to your Xero organisations via Xero's secure OAuth, pulls general ledger data nightly, and runs the consolidation automatically. The output is a full set of group financial statements — audit-ready, IFRS/GAAP-tagged, and available the same day your entities close.

  • Connects to multiple Xero organisations via Xero's secure OAuth 2.0
  • Eliminates intercompany transactions automatically across all connected entities
  • Translates foreign currencies using closing or average rates (IFRS / US GAAP compliant)
  • Consolidates Xero alongside MYOB, QuickBooks, Zoho Books, or Excel-based entities
  • Produces group P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow — no manual assembly

What Xero Can and Can't Do

No consolidated group P&L — Xero reports per organisation only. You must export and combine manually.
No intercompany elimination — Intercompany transactions inflate group revenue unless manually reversed. Xero has no automation for this across organisations.
No multi-platform consolidation — If any entity runs on MYOB or QuickBooks, Xero can't include it in group reporting.
No currency translation at group level — CTA calculations need to be done outside Xero for group statements.
No NCI handling — Partial ownership across subsidiaries requires manual calculation and adjustments.
Tracking categories are not consolidation — Xero's tracking categories give a split view within one organisation. They cannot eliminate intercompany transactions across organisations or consolidate multi-currency groups.

Frequently Asked Questions

Xero Financial Consolidation — Questions Answered

Xero does not have native financial consolidation. It is designed to manage accounting within a single organisation. While you can create multiple organisations in Xero, there is no built-in mechanism to produce a consolidated P&L, consolidated Balance Sheet, or consolidated Cash Flow across them. Groups using Xero need a dedicated consolidation tool — such as BrizoConsol — to produce group-level financial statements.
Connect each Xero organisation to BrizoConsol via Xero's OAuth. BrizoConsol pulls your general ledger data, maps accounts to a group chart of accounts using AI Auto-Map, and runs the full consolidation automatically — eliminating intercompany transactions, applying currency translation, and producing a consolidated P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow. Most groups complete this setup and have their first consolidated report on the same day.
Yes. BrizoConsol is built for mixed-platform groups. If some entities run on Xero and others on MYOB, QuickBooks, or Xero, BrizoConsol connects to each platform independently and consolidates all entities into a single group view. Every entity is treated equally regardless of which accounting system it uses.
BrizoConsol detects intercompany transactions automatically when the same account code appears across connected Xero organisations, or when intercompany accounts are flagged during setup. Eliminations are applied automatically in the consolidation run. Every elimination entry is logged with a full audit trail — the originating entities, amounts, and basis. Manual elimination entries are also supported for complex group adjustments.
Yes. Each Xero organisation can operate in its own local currency — INR, SGD, AUD, AED, or any other. BrizoConsol applies closing rates to Balance Sheet items and average rates to P&L items, calculating the currency translation adjustment (CTA) automatically. The CTA is included in the consolidated Balance Sheet under equity, consistent with IFRS (IAS 21), US GAAP (ASC 830), and UK GAAP (FRS 102) requirements.
BrizoConsol produces a full consolidated financial statement pack: a consolidated P&L (Profit and Loss), consolidated Balance Sheet, consolidated Cash Flow Statement, intercompany elimination report, and group-level dashboards. All statements are generated automatically from synced Xero data, with no manual assembly required.
BrizoConsol connects to Xero via Xero's official OAuth 2.0 flow. Authorisation happens on Xero's own screens — BrizoConsol never sees your Xero password. Access is read-only: BrizoConsol requests only the scopes needed to read your general ledger data and cannot write to, modify, or delete any data in your Xero organisations. OAuth tokens are encrypted in transit and at rest.
OAuth authorisation takes a few minutes per Xero organisation. Account mapping with AI Auto-Map typically takes under 30 minutes for most groups. An initial data sync completes automatically after setup. Most groups run their first consolidated group report on the same day they connect — without any implementation consultants or onboarding calls.
US GAAP Regulatory Context

ASC 810 Consolidation Requirements for US Groups Using Xero

US groups preparing consolidated financial statements under US GAAP must comply with ASC 810 Consolidation, with foreign currency translation governed by ASC 830 Foreign Currency Matters. BrizoConsol automates ASC 810-compliant consolidation for US groups using Xero, including NCI attribution under ASC 810-10-45 and CTA calculation under ASC 830 included in Other Comprehensive Income (OCI).

ASC 810 — Consolidation

ASC 810 requires a US parent entity to consolidate all subsidiaries it controls through a majority voting interest or through variable interest entity (VIE) relationships. NCI (non-controlling interest) is presented separately within equity under ASC 810-10-45. BrizoConsol applies ASC 810-compliant logic — including full intercompany elimination and NCI attribution — across all connected Xero entities automatically.

ASC 830 — Foreign Currency Translation (CTA)

US groups with foreign subsidiaries apply ASC 830 Foreign Currency Matters. BrizoConsol applies the current rate method — closing rates to Balance Sheet items, weighted average rates to P&L — and calculates the Cumulative Translation Adjustment (CTA). The CTA is included in Other Comprehensive Income (OCI) in the consolidated Balance Sheet, consistent with ASC 220 and ASC 830 requirements.

SEC Reporting and Audit Readiness

US public companies filing with the SEC under Regulation S-X must present consolidated financial statements audited by a PCAOB-registered firm. BrizoConsol produces audit-ready consolidated output — with full elimination audit trails and period-by-period CTA schedules — that can be handed directly to your external auditors. All adjustments are traceable to the originating Xero entity and transaction.

Typical US Group Structure

US-based groups typically operate subsidiaries in Canada (CAD), the UK (GBP), Australia (AUD), India (INR), and the UAE (AED) — each requiring USD translation under ASC 830. Many use Xero in their US entities and Xero, MYOB, or other platforms overseas. BrizoConsol consolidates all of these currencies in a single run, applying ASC 830-compliant rates automatically.

US-Specific Questions

Common Questions from US Groups Using Xero

Yes. BrizoConsol applies ASC 810-compliant consolidation logic for US groups using Xero. This includes full intercompany elimination across all connected entities, NCI calculation and presentation consistent with ASC 810-10-45, and foreign currency translation under ASC 830. The consolidated output — P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, and intercompany elimination schedule — is audit-ready for your external auditors.
BrizoConsol applies the current rate method required by ASC 830. For each foreign subsidiary, Balance Sheet items are translated at the period-end closing rate and P&L items at the weighted average rate for the period. The resulting Cumulative Translation Adjustment (CTA) is calculated automatically and presented in Other Comprehensive Income (OCI) within the consolidated Balance Sheet — consistent with ASC 220 and ASC 830. The CTA movement by entity is available for each reporting period.
Yes. US groups frequently use Xero in their domestic entities and Xero, MYOB, Zoho Books, or other platforms in their overseas subsidiaries. BrizoConsol connects to each accounting platform independently and consolidates all entities into a single US GAAP-compliant group view — applying ASC 830 currency translation and ASC 810 eliminations across all connected platforms simultaneously.
